Hey everyone! It’s been a busy time with writing, recording, calling representatives, etc – but I would be remiss if I didn’t hype the HECK out of the shows I’m a part of this month.
I am so freaking excited and honored to be collaborating with artists of different mediums, whose creativity inspires me to no end. Both of these shows are focused on using the arts to sustain and empower us through the challenges of our times. I am a firm believer in the power of the arts to resist despair and fortify our souls to fight back against oppressive forces, and these two shows are designed to do just that.

Friday, March 21 at 7 pm: “F**k the Patriarchy: A Collaborative Art Show” with work by Lee Pohlsander, Anthony Nowack, Lauren Ariel, and Vincent Tavani. To kick off this amazing exhibit, I will be sharing music and poetry as part of the opening reception. This special evening will feature visual and performing arts with themes of resilience, gender, healing, resistance, and more. The gallery opens at 5 pm on 3/21, and the exhibit will run until April 6.

Saturday 3/29: “Sunlight Returning: Songs of Hope” featuring Larkspur Gunther, Queen Ebizmel, and Moweh. I was fortunate to be on a bill with these artists last fall, and I had to reach out to them for this show because I just love how each of them exists so authentically in music. If you were at the release show for Precipice last spring, you know Larkspur’s imaginative and poignant songwriting, and Queen Ebizmel and Moweh will be doing a set together that showcases their soulful and passionate musical presence. An evening of songs to usher in the spring and returning daylight – what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons?

I really hope you can join us for one or both of these shows. I know many of us are struggling with the current levels of chaos and uncertainty, and going out to a show might not feel like a priority, but I hope you will think about how music and art can be both self and community care, and how essential this kind of soul care is when despair makes us easier to control. You deserve joy and connection and catharsis. Wishing everyone all of this however you can find it 💜
Here’s a video of me rambling excitedly about these shows, plus a sneak peek of the recording I’ve been doing. Much love. <3 Anna
